FM99 WNOR: News, Humor and So Much More

Based on Chesapeake, Virginia, FM99 MNOR provides the whole Hampton Roads with a variety of radio entertainment programs. 

The local radio station centers on live rock music. A mix of hard rock, contemporary rock, classic rock can be heard among the other genres of the rock spectrum. While music may be the benchmark of the station, they also air comedy and talk shows.

Their scheduled daily programs stretch the whole 24-hour airtime. Round the clock listening entertainment is provided by hosts Rick Rumble, Shelley, Eric, Nikki, and Stephen. With shows that highlight a range of narratives rotating with hours of music marathons. A cornucopia of tunes, humor, news, and topics about everything under the sun, listeners from Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Newport News tune in to get their daily dose of songs, exciting discourse and a whole lot of laughs. 

Weekdays are ushered in with their featured radio talk show, Rumble in the Morning, which airs from Mondays to Fridays at 5:30 AM-10 AM. This show is hosted by Rick Rumble, who the show is named after. 

Rumble in the Morning is an interactive comic radio that airs five days a week. The show starts with a recap and an overview of what is about to go down that day. They also take calls from the audience and throw giveaways. Listener emails or messages are also read throughout the segment. 

Pretty heavy on laughs and banter, they have satirical shows. One of which is the “Stupid News”; the show reports real-life events that make entertaining topics because of their lack of rationality.

On top of this, a string of novelty commentaries from other voice jockeys. Shelley, who is also the radio station’s news program director, has her segment called “Ask Shelley” aired every Monday. Another part of the morning program includes “Facebook Fights,” where hosts reenact Facebook posts in which arguments get a funny spin-off. 

Now and then, the station airs “Wheels of interviews” on Wednesdays; this show pranks listeners by interviewing them using different personas and voices. One of the classic interviews where done on a local tow truck Chesapeake company. Wednesdays also broadcast “The Reach-Around” that showcases strange recording found on the internet. At the same time, the hosts try to put the finger on these peculiar sounds. “What’s on Craigslist?”, that happens every Thursday, also delves into strange listings found on the said website.
